MindOut, the Brighton & Hove-based LGBTQ+ mental health charity; Just Like Us, the LGBTQ+ youth charity; and Jonathan Bailey are among those shortlisted for this year’s Rainbow Honours, which celebrate individuals and organisations who dedicate themselves year-round to driving change and championing LGBTQ+ equality.

This prestigious event recognises and rewards inspiring Rainbow Heroes, Sheroes, and Queeroes – those extraordinary people and groups whose efforts significantly advance inclusion and equality for the LGBTQ+ community.

Rainbow Honours say: “While progress has been made, LGBTQ+ individuals still face discrimination in the workplace, in education, and across social media. The impact of inequality is profound, with LGBTQ+ youth being more likely to experience self-harm or attempt suicide and facing higher rates of substance abuse compared to the general population.

“That’s why we honour those who take a stand for fairness and equality. These remarkable advocates are truly the UK’s LGBTQ+ Rainbow Heroes, and they deserve our deepest recognition and gratitude.”

Jonathan Bailey has been shortlisted in the Celebrity LGBTQIA Champion of the Year category; Just Like Us has been nominated for the second year running for the Rainbow Honours Charity of the Year award, alongside MindOut and other vital LGBTQ+ charities.

The charity, which works year-round to support LGBTQ+ young people, and champion LGBTQ+ inclusion in schools across the UK, says: “Sadly, growing up LGBTQ+ is still unacceptably tough. Our research shows that LGBT+ school pupils are twice as likely to have been bullied than their non-LGBTQ+ peers and they are more than four times as likely to rarely or never feel close to other people.

“But, Just Like Us is working to change that, transforming the lives of LGBTQ+ young adults and ensuring schools are places where all pupils feel safe and are able to thrive.”

The winners of the Rainbow Honours will be announced at an awards ceremony on 27 June 2025. Full list and more info HERE
