Neil Bartlett’s In Extremis, a play centred around the days proceeding the arrest of Oscar Wilde, will be playing at The Old Courtroom, Brighton as part of The Brighton Fringe in May and June.
On the night of the March 24, 1895, Mrs Robinson, a society palm reader, agreed to see Oscar Wilde in her London flat. It was just one week before what is going to be billed as the trial of the century.
In Extremis asks, why did Oscar Wilde go to see a complete stranger for advice when his life was at a critical turning point?
The role of Oscar will be alternated between Nigel Fairs and National Theatre actor Charlie Buckland, while Mrs Robinson will be portrayed by Hove actress Suzanne Procter.
Where: The Old Courtroom, Brighton.
When: Plays 3 nights: May 17-19 & then returns for 4 nights: May 30-June 2 at 7.30pm.
