Gay Classic Car Group: a group of LGBTQ+ members as diverse as their cars

The Gay Classic Car Group (GCCG), a group of 1,300 LGBTQ+ members that are as diverse as their cars, presented a wide variety of motors on their stand at the NEC Classic Car and Restoration Show.

GCCG said: “We had a colourful array of cars on our stand, including rose taupe Vanden Plas Princess 1300 (known as Princess Pru), a stunning blue Rover P5B Coupe, and a brace of humble Italians including a red Alfa 166 and a Fiat Cinquetento. One of our special guests was Gwen, a Rover 200 in a base 1.1 spec, which is a real scrap yard survivor.”

A wide array of mechanical work took place, replacing and adjusting brakes, wheel bearings, and fixing quite a few electrical woes. The Alfa 166 had an ICS unit repair; the Rover received a new coil, the antitheft device was removed, and a glowing alternator was sorted. More cosmetic repairs included the Cinquetento gaining a new seat panel fabric and the Rover 200 roof panel was replaced. Many of the cars on the stand also received deep cleaning and detailing.

GCCG added: “The NEC Classic Car and Restoration Show proved again it is a great interactive show to kick off the season.”
