Football Pride, a leading celebration of LGBTQ+ inclusion in football, is set to return on Friday, 29 August at The Y Theatre in Leicester. Organised by Football v Homophobia (FvH), the one-day event promises a vibrant mix of creativity, community, and campaigning, bringing together LGBTQ+ people and allies from all levels of the beautiful game.

Now in its third consecutive year as an in-person gathering, Football Pride has grown from its virtual roots in 2020 into a cornerstone of the summer calendar for inclusive football. This year’s edition will feature panel discussions, theatre, film screenings, spoken word performances, and networking socials, all designed to amplify queer voices in football and celebrate diversity in the sport.

Special guests already confirmed include Lars Fellows and Jordan Burrow, stars of the BBC’s reality dating show I Kissed A Boy, with more names expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

The event will also serve as a prelude to Leicester Pride, taking place the following day, with attendees encouraged to join the Football Pride group in the city’s parade. Organisers are actively inviting creatives, influencers, and performers from across the LGBTQ+ and allies community to get involved, ensuring the event reflects the full spectrum of identities and experiences within inclusive football.

Last year’s Football Pride, held at Chelsea FC’s Stamford Bridge, drew over 150 attendees and was hailed for its joyful atmosphere and powerful conversations around LGBTQ+ representation in sport.
