Explore local World War One history with an expert at Hove Library next Saturday, September 27.
The event, being held from 11 a.m. to 12 noon, is an opportunity to discover the library’s WW1 resources.
These include the Hove Roll of Honour – a collection of war records and photographs of service personnel who lived in Hove and died in WW1, plus newspaper cuttings and microfilm, rare books, street directories, and local history photographs.
The session is free but places are limited and should be booked in advance – this can be done at any Brighton and Hove library, or by phoning 01273 290800 or emailing libraries@brighton-hove.gov.uk.
A second Discover the WW1 Resources event is being held at Hove Library on November 8.
A plaque in the foyer of Hove Library bears the names of 631 Hove residents who served and died in WW1. The library also has a WW1 Reading Corner, which includes fiction, non-fiction, large print books, DVDs, children’s stock and a collection of personal voices from WW1, such as poetry, diaries and biographies.
