Dolly Parton assures fans she's "doing fine"

Country music legend and queer icon Dolly Parton has reassured fans she is “doing fine” following a wave of concern sparked by her sister’s emotional social media post. The 79-year-old singer recently postponed her Las Vegas residency, originally scheduled for December, citing ongoing health challenges.
Parton revealed she is undergoing treatment for kidney stones, which have caused complications over the past few weeks. In a statement, she explained that her doctors advised her to undergo “a few procedures,” joking that it was time for her “100,000-mile check-up” - though not the usual visit to her plastic surgeon.
The postponement of her Dolly: Live in Las Vegas shows has now been rescheduled for September 2026, allowing the singer time to recover and prepare the performance she says fans “deserve to see”.
Concerns intensified after Dolly’s sister, Freida Parton, posted on Facebook that she had been “up all night praying” for her sibling. The heartfelt message led fans to fear the worst, prompting Freida to later clarify that Dolly was simply “a little under the weather” and that her request for prayers was not meant to alarm anyone.
Dolly’s manager, Olly Rowland, confirmed that the situation had been “blown out of proportion,” stating that the singer is dealing with kidney stones and is expected to recover well.
Despite the health setback, Dolly remains active and continues to work on her various projects from her home in Nashville. She assured fans she has no plans to retire, saying, “God hasn’t said anything about stopping yet. But I believe He is telling me to slow down right now so I can be ready for more big adventures with all of you”.
