A new online directory aimed at supporting LGBTQ+ individuals with their mental health has been launched in memory of the late Strictly Come Dancing star Robin Windsor. The initiative, titled Ask Bobby, was unveiled in June and is already being hailed as a vital resource for the community.
The directory was created by Windsor’s close friend and former partner, Davide Cini, through the organisation You Are Loved. It serves as a “one-stop shop” connecting users with mental health charities, community groups, and inclusive sporting organisations. The platform is designed to combat loneliness and isolation, which disproportionately affect LGBTQ+ individuals.
Robin Windsor, who passed away in February at the age of 44, was a beloved professional dancer on Strictly from 2010 to 2013. He was known for his vibrant performances and for being part of the show's first-ever same-sex dance pairing. His legacy of joy, resilience, and advocacy continues through this new initiative.

“Helping others, including children and those with disabilities, to dance helped Robin during some of his darkest days,” said Cini. “I think it’s the legacy that myself, Robin’s family and friends would like for him, so he can keep shining a light and help people within our community who are struggling”.
Robin's family also expressed their support for the project, saying in an earlier statement:
“Robin would be really proud that we are doing this in his name. We are deeply touched by the outpouring of love and celebration of his life. This initiative reflects the kindness and compassion he showed to others every day”.
Marc Svensson, founder of You Are Loved, added that the directory was born out of a need to address the high rates of suicide and drug-related deaths in the LGBTQ+ community. “Signposting people to their community or group of people that might share the same interests or hobbies might be a really good way to combat loneliness,” he said.
The Ask Bobby directory is now live and accepting registrations.
