Music has been embedded in my life ever since I was in the womb, my Mum and Dad basically raised me on music, especially POP music! I grew up listening to Madonna, Mariah Carey, Kylie Minogue, Spice Girls, Britney Spears and even AQUA and I’ve always been obsessed with pop culture and Eurovison! I love sharing my favourite songs and album every month with the world from Scene HQ!
I think the Mayhem era is the best Lady Gaga era yet, there I said it! Dead Dance is a hauntingly euphoric synth-pop track that blends disco grooves with gothic flair, delivering a powerful anthem of resilience through heartbreak. Released as part of the Mayhem album reissue, the song was co-written and produced by Gaga of course, Andrew Watt and Cirkut.
The music video is directed by the one and only Tim Burton and filmed on Mexico’s eerie Island of the Dolls which adds a cinematic layer of horror inspired choreography that’s been favourably compared to Michael Jackson’s Thriller. Dead Dance is one of Gaga’s most compelling late-career singles: emotionally raw, visually unforgettable, and danceable in the most cathartic way.
Allie X’s Is Anybody Out There? is a haunting indie-rock track that channels isolation, existential dread, and emotional vulnerability into a beautifully layered sonic experience. Written and self-produced by Allie X and will appear on her upcoming fourth studio album, HIGGY which is out THIS MONTH!
Lyrically, it’s one of her most introspective works to date-touching on themes of loneliness, grief, and the surreal nature of modern life, including a poignant reference to the loss of her collaborator Bram Inscore.
I've only just discovered bbno$ recently somehow, I don't really go on TikTok much so that's my excuse but yezzir is the biggest earworm ever, it's a high-energy hip-house track that leans into bbno$'s signature quirky style and rapid fire delivery. Produced by inverness, Pink Slip, and others, the song is part of a weekly rollout leading up to his self-titled album dropping on the 17th October!
With lyrics that bounce between absurdist humor and braggadocious flair, it’s clearly designed as a party anthem complete with a chorus that repeats “Yes, sir” like a rallying cry. It's stupid but fun, chaotic, catchy and not taking itself too seriously. Perfect for blasting in a car with the windows down.
Taken from the deluxe edition of David’s debut solo album Funny Little Fears (Dreams), Talk to Me by Damiano David, features Tyla and Nile Rodgers and is a sleek, nostalgic pop-funk track that blends sultry vocals with shimmering guitar riffs and a groove-heavy rhythm section.
Co-written and produced by John Hill and Sammy Witte with additional songwriting from Sarah Aarons, the track showcases a seamless fusion of David’s glam-rock sensibility, Tyla’s smooth R&B tone, and Nile's iconic disco-funk guitar work. This is honestly one of the most stylish collaborations of the year-effortlessly cool, emotionally resonant and tailor-made for late-night drives or dance floor introspection.
Blue’s One Last Time is a nostalgic power ballad that proves the boy band still knows how to tug heartstrings-this time with grown-up grace and a touch of cinematic flair. Released as the lead single from their upcoming album Reflections, the track blends classic Blue harmonies with a sweeping orchestral arrangement that feels tailor-made for a tearjerker movie montage. The lyrics, pleading for one final chance at love—are delivered with emotional conviction, especially from Lee Ryan and Duncan James, whose vocals soar over the dramatic production.
One Last Time is a solid reminder that Blue’s signature blend of pop and soul still resonates, especially for fans who’ve grown up with them. It’s heartfelt, polished, and just the right amount of melodramatic.
Omg I don't know where to begin with CANNIBALISM! by Slayyyter, it's a bold, genre-blurring track that dives headfirst into the darker corners of pop with a playful yet gritty edge. The song fuses dance-pop with post-punk flavors, anchored by a hypnotic chorus and slick bassline that make it instantly infectious.
Fun fact: the music video was self-directed by Slayyyter and features surreal, horror-inspired visuals including a bloodied bunny figure and drag performances. CANNIBALISM! showcases Slayyyter’s fearless creativity and proves she’s one of pop’s most daring provocateurs.
That's Showbiz Baby!
Omg it feels like we’ve gone from a pop drought to an absolute flood of incredible albums. I was this close to picking Mariah Carey’s Here For It All, Doja Cat’s Vie, Zara Larsson’s Midnight Sun, Lola Young’s I’m Only F**king Myself, or Perrie’s self-titled debut as my album of the month. But the truth is huns, I’ve had That’s Showbiz Baby! on repeat-start to finish-every single day since it dropped. So really, how could I not choose JADE for my AOTM?
Plus she totally inspired me to finally write my definitive ranking of every Britney Spears album (yesss it's HERE so don't panic) so giving her the crown just felt right.
I’m genuinely in awe of Jade's razor-sharp attention to detail, every second of the album and its visuals feels deliberate and layered and bursting with hidden gems! Dropping a full visual album as part of her debut is simply iconic too. (Beyoncé, we love you, but the Renaissance visuals are still MIA!)
Jade absolutely deserves her roses. She may be a seasoned pro with over ten years of hit making in Little Mix and industry savvy since she was 18, but her solo era proves she was born to be an IT Girl.
The album’s opener and lead single, Angels Of My Dreams is the perfect intro to what to expect from what's to come-kind of. AOMD is a bold exploration of Jade's relationship with the music industry and mirrors the album’s overall sound: unpredictable, emotionally charged and unapologetically JADE.
Jade throws herself into every facet of pop whether she’s delivering the high voltage electropop of IT Girl and Midnight Cowboy tapping into raw vulnerability on Natural at Disaster or gliding through the smooth R&B textures of Lip Service. Each song feels like a deliberate stride into terrain she’s been itching to explore and she navigates it all with a natural ease that makes genre hopping look effortless.
That's Showbiz Baby! is meant to feel like I've just thrown things at a wall and created this pure pop, joyful record.
Before You Break My Heart cleverly samples The Supremes’ Stop! In The Name Of Love, injecting a nostalgic jolt into a track that’s equal parts tender and ready to light up the dancefloor. Jade's disco sensibilities truly shine in the album’s dazzling midsection-from Fantasy, a euphoric celebration of sexual liberation to Self Saboteur, a shimmering heartbreak anthem that channels peak Kylie glamour.
Jade's debut album cements her status as pop’s latest shape shifter, effortlessly slipping between genres and moods. That's Showbiz Baby! is a maximalist and totally magnetic album and if this is Jade's pop thesis, well she’s graduated with glittering honors!
I feel like I need to mention Jade's Brit Awards performance whilst we're here too:
A moment for the pop culture history books!
With her tour set to hit the Brighton Dome, the countdown is officially on and I can’t wait to hear this whole album in real life, hopefully she performs the whole album!
FUFN (Fuck You For Now) is still my favourite song on the album followed by Plastic Box, Silent Disco, IT Girl, Angel Of My Dreams, Fantasy, Glitch, Lip Service, Self Saboteur, Midnight Cowboy, Headache, Unconditional, Before You Break My Heart and Natural at Disaster....so basically the whole album is that bitch.
