Centre Stage Brighton – a safe space for the LGBTQ+ community and their friends – is to remain open after announcing on social media the sale of the Amsterdam Hotel has collapsed.

The bar, which was going to be turned into a seafood restaurant, wrote on Facebook: “Just when you thought you’d got rid of us. The sale of the hotel has collapsed, so Centre Stage rises like the champion! That’s right, we are not going anywhere yet kids. So the Big Goodbye Bash is now the Big Let’s Get Mullered Bash!”

The Big Let’s Get Mullered Bash takes place on Sunday, April 27 from 5pm with Donna Marie as Lady Gaga, Melissa Totten as Madonna, drag star Rose Garden and DJ Dolly on the decks.

Support independent LGBTQ+ journalism

Scene was founded in Brighton in 1993, at a time when news stories about Pride protests were considered radical.

Since then, Scene has remained proudly independent, building a platform for queer voices. Every subscription helps us to report on the stories that matter to LGBTQ+ people across the UK and beyond.

Your support funds our journalists and contributes to Pride Community Foundation’s grant-making and policy work.
