Brighton & Hove City Council will be flying the trans flags this weekend to show their continued support for trans, non-binary and intersex (TNBI) communities and Trans Pride Brighton, taking place on Saturday, 19 July.
This year’s Trans Pride Brighton begins with a protest march, meeting at Victoria Gardens at 11am for speeches and setting off from 12pm.
Anyone joining for the accessible march is asked to assemble in front of the Old Ship Hotel on the seafront. Free accessible taxi will run from outside the Corn Exchange to the park venues throughout the day.
The organisers have planned a variety of exciting events and performances in venues all across the city, including stalls and a band stage at New Steine Gardens, acoustic stage at Dorset Gardens and a makers’ market at Brighton Dome.

This year, the council’s LGBTQ+ Workers Forum will be hosting a stall at the Trans Pride in New Steine Gardens - an opportunity to learn about support the council can provide to trans people in Brighton & Hove.
The first Trans Pride in Brighton & Hove took place in 2013. It has since grown into the biggest event of its kind in Europe.
This year, the city can look forward to both its landmark Pride events, Trans Pride and Brighton & Hove Pride, joining forces to create a two-week festival of diversity, joy and unity.
The United in Pride project provides an opportunity for community groups, LGBTQ+ businesses and individuals to organise events that celebrate their diverse identities, foster inclusion, fundraise for LGBTQ+ projects and strengthen unity in an increasingly volatile world.

Councillor Emma Daniel, acting cabinet member lead for equality, diversity and inclusion, said: “Like every year, we’re very proud to support Trans Pride and stand firmly beside out TNBI residents and communities. We are proud of them, and we will endeavour to be leaders that they are proud of in turn.
“Trans Pride creates a safe and inclusive space for everyone to voice their support for trans rights and celebrate the trans, non-binary and gender diverse community in all its greatness, bravery, creativity and joy.
“We are committed to do all we can to ensure that their access to services is protected and that they are able to live with dignity and respect in our city of sanctuary.
“LGBTQ+ people in Brighton & Hove, the UK and around the world must be able to live authentically with dignity, safety and respect.”
