Brighton & Hove LGBTQ+ Switchboard has given thanks to Brighton & Hove Sea Serpents, a local gay-inclusive rugby team, for helping give the charity’s client rooms a much-needed makeover.
Brighton & Hove Sea Serpents said: “We’re grateful for the opportunity to give back to our local community, thank you so much for having us.”

Switchboard also thanked IRIS (International Rainbow Inclusion Service) members, who helped with the room designs. IRIS is a free service for LGBTQ+ refugees, asylum seekers and migrants and those questioning their sexuality and/or gender identity.
Switchboard said: “Look how amazingly they turned out! We took a trauma-informed approach to decorating the rooms to ensure they’re welcoming, safe spaces for our clients.

“We can’t wait to support our clients using these spaces as we head into 2025 – we’ve had lovely feedback from some of our clients already!”

Scene was founded in Brighton in 1993, at a time when news stories about Pride protests were considered radical. Since then, Scene has remained proudly independent, building a platform for queer voices. Every subscription helps us to report on the stories that matter to LGBTQ+ people across the UK and beyond.
Your support funds our journalists and contributes to Pride Community Foundation’s grant-making and policy work.
