This year December will be magic again! The boys from the Brighton Gay Men’s Chorus, fresh from their 20th anniversary celebration, return to the Brighton Dome for their winter spectacular, Beauty and the Bear, on Saturday, 13 December.
A reimagining of the classic fairytale in pantomime style that is packed full of songs. The now 150 strong chorus will unite on stage to deliver in their trademark style a performance that is sure to dazzle and delight audience members of all ages. Expect to hear powerful performances and witty dialogue alongside a camp touch (or two) of festive pantomime magic (oh no we didn’t!).

Dr Joe Paxton, Artistic Director, said: “Every year we set out to create something bigger, and more entertaining than the last and Beauty and the Bear is no exception. Musically, it’s packed with powerful pop ballads and festive favourites, all arranged to showcase the incredible vocal talents within the Chorus. There’s a real sense of fun and drama in this show, and we’ve pushed ourselves creatively to make sure every song hits with that signature BrightonGMC sparkle.”

The show is shaping up to be an absolute standout in a year when the Brighton Gay Men’s Chorus have already achieved so much as part of their 20th anniversary celebrations. Their Retrospective show in May earned rave reviews, while the combined tour de force that was Euro Party saw them join forces with international friends from Barcelona, Dublin and Munich to christen the Cairns Theatre. In the spirit of the season, this show will also see a number of tickets donated to local charities, ensuring that those who might not otherwise have the opportunity can share in the magic of the night.

Jack Hobbs-Veli, PR & Marketing Coordinator, added “The response we have had to Beauty and the Bear has been phenomenal and tickets have sold exceedingly well this year. With only around 10% remaining we are expecting to sell out very soon. The buzz around the show has been huge, not just from our loyal fans but from new audiences discovering us online.
"People absolutely loved our recent video of Dibbles, our chorus mascot, being defrosted to Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas Is You. I can’t wait to see what happens next month when we perform and I’m sure the audience will be as delighted as teddy bears at a picnic.”
