Brighton Bear Weekend saddened by the passing of Mx. Brighton Bear.
“As a non-binary bear, Antoni not only embodied our values as an inclusive organisation, but also demonstrated how to live life to the fullest.”
Brighton Bear Weekend (BBW) has announced the sad passing of Mx. Brighton Bear 2021, Antoni Fletcher-Goldspink.
In a statement, BBW said: “Andrew was a contestant in last year’s Mr Brighton Bear competition and was leading the voting at the time he had to pull out due to his cancer diagnosis.
“As a non-binary bear, Antoni not only embodied our values as an inclusive organisation, but also demonstrated how to live life to the fullest. He has a special place in our hearts and is sorely missed by the BBW production team, all our volunteers and, hundreds of his adoring fans.
“We are sure Antoni’s next regeneration will be something even more special. We leave the last words to Antoni by including the responses he gave on his competition entry form last year:
Name: Antoni
Identifies as: Confused
Likes to play with: An etch a sketch and fuzzy felt.
Favourite position: The after pizza, eating across each other.
Something(s) not many people know: I’m a kiwi. I donated a kidney to my mum 24 years ago. I once danced around her handbag with Alison Goldfrapp and Bryan Ferry.”
