‘Family Values’ MAGA politician, Bill Berrien, exposed for following trans adult performers

Bill Berrien, a leading MAGA candidate known for his anti-trans rhetoric and “family values” campaigning, has been exposed for following sexually explicit accounts online - including a trans adult performer.

Berrien, who is running for governor and has publicly aligned himself with Donald Trump’s hard-right agenda, was found to have followed a number of accounts on Medium related to sex education, female pleasure and inclusive sexuality. Among these was a prominent trans adult entertainer. The discovery stands in stark contrast to Berrien’s repeated attacks on trans rights and his calls to “protect children” from so-called “woke indoctrination”.

Shortly after the news broke, Berrien’s campaign scrambled to unfollow nearly two dozen accounts. However, archived versions of his online activity confirm his previous interests. In response, his team dismissed the reporting as a “garbage political hit”, attempting to shift focus back to his anti-LGBTQ+ talking points.

For many in the LGBTQ+ and trans community, this episode is a familiar reminder of the double standards often displayed by anti-trans politicians. “It’s not just hypocrisy, it’s a demonstration of how anti-trans rhetoric is often nothing more than political theatre,” said one local activist. “These politicians campaign on fear and division, but their private actions tell a very different story.”

Recent polling shows that the American public is increasingly rejecting anti-trans attacks. The Human Rights Campaign reports that a supermajority of Americans support equality and nondiscrimination protections for LGBTQ+ people, and that most voters see through attempts to scapegoat trans youth for political gain.
