In honour of late trustee and ally, Paul Draycott, Beyond Reflections, the Southampton-based charity supporting trans+ people and their families, has launched its annual Trans+ Allies Celebration event, which will be an evening dedicated to celebrating queerness and allyship, and recognising the outstanding contributions of members of the community.
Hosted by Dandy Issues, the event takes place at The Stage Door, Southampton, SO14 7FW on Thursday, September 26 with doors at 6.30pm for 7pm start.
Nominations are now open for you to suggest people who deserve recognition for their work to make a difference to trans+ lives in the UK. There will be an award for both a trans+ person or organisation and an ally. Click here to submit your nominations – ally / trans+.
On the night, Beyond Reflections will be welcoming you to the stage! The charity said: “Whether you sing, play an instrument, have a stand-up comedy routine you want to try, want to share a poem you’ve written or ANYTHING ELSE.
“Join us and show off your talent! We had so much fun at our last open mic that we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate our community than by doing it again.”

Support independent LGBTQ+ journalism
Scene was founded in Brighton in 1993, at a time when news stories about Pride protests were considered radical. Since then, Scene has remained proudly independent, building a platform for queer voices. Every subscription helps us to report on the stories that matter to LGBTQ+ people across the UK and beyond.
Your support funds our journalists and contributes to Pride Community Foundation’s grant-making and policy work.
