Graham Linehan, co-creator of Father Ted, who has since become involved in anti-trans activism, has pleaded not guilty to harassment and criminal damage against an 18-year-old trans woman.
The 56-year-old, who has said trans ideology is “poisonous”, denied two charges including one of harassing the trans activist, Sophia Brooks, on social media in October 2024, and another of damaging her phone during a conference in London in the same month.
Linehan, a vocal supporter of JK Rowling who praised anti-trans protesters at a London Pride event who had carried banners and flyers saying that “transactivism erases lesbians”, calling them “heroes”, said outside court afterwards that he had for six years defended “the rights of women and children” and had faced abuse and threats.
Linehan is accused of harassment by posting abusive comments on social media between 11 and 27 of October, and of damage to a phone to the value of £369.
The case will go to trial on 4 September.
