Allsorts Youth Project, which aims to support and empower young people under 26 who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans or unsure (LGBTU) of their sexual orientation, took part in local women’s football team, Brighton & Hove Seagals FC’s, first ‘Super Sixes’ fundraising event earlier in 2024. The event was hosted as part of the club’s Football v Homophobia month of action to raise awareness for LGBTQ+ people in sport, and to challenge homophobia.
As well as raising funds in aid of the project with the help of their partners and supporter, Seagals FC invited Allsorts to submit a team who came joint first place.
Through raffle ticket sales and donations, the Seagals raised an incredible £1,500 in aid of the project and the event was a wholesome evening and a roaring success.
Support independent LGBTQ+ journalism
Scene was founded in Brighton in 1993, at a time when news stories about Pride protests were considered radical. Since then, Scene has remained proudly independent, building a platform for queer voices. Every subscription helps us to report on the stories that matter to LGBTQ+ people across the UK and beyond.
Your support funds our journalists and contributes to Pride Community Foundation’s grant-making and policy work.
