Allsorts launches Christmas Appeal to support LGBTQ+ children – and a big HELLO from new CEO Nancy Kelley

The festive season can be a joyful time for many, but for LGBTQ+ children and young people, it can often feel isolating and lonely. Many don’t feel able to come out to their families, and when they do, not all families are welcoming and accepting.

Allsorts Youth Project is determined to change that. This Christmas, they are asking for your support to ensure every LGBTQ+ child or young person in Sussex has someone to turn to - and that their families have a place to reach out for help.

Your donation can make a real difference:

  • £10 gives a young person the train fare they need to attend a safe, welcoming Allsorts youth group.
  • £20 funds a one-to-one session with an Allsorts worker.
  • £40 funds an Allsorts youth group, where young people can make friends and build confidence.

Nancy Kelley has recently joined Allsorts as Chief Executive Officer and is already feeling inspired by the organisation’s impact: "Through all of the meetings I've had so far, it's clear how loved and respected Allsorts is within Sussex and beyond – a tribute to the team and to the children, young people and families that are our heart.

"The highlight of my time so far has been sitting in on a parents’ group, and I’m looking forward to visiting a youth group soon. We are here so LGBTQ+ children and young people in Sussex can find community, build confidence and thrive - and nothing makes that mission clearer than seeing Allsorts work up close."

Nancy adds: "I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to getting to know the Allsorts family better. It’s a privilege to be here."
