Channel 4 has announced a compelling new drama from acclaimed writer Russell T Davies, titled Tip Toe, with celebrated actors Alan Cumming and David Morrissey leading the cast. The five-part series, currently filming in Manchester, promises to be a gripping exploration of modern tensions and re-emerging prejudices within British society.

Set in Manchester’s iconic Gay Village, Tip Toe centres on Leo (played by Cumming), a vibrant and witty bar owner of Spit & Polish, and Clive (Morrissey), his stern and troubled next-door neighbour. The two men have lived side-by-side for nearly 15 years, but as societal pressures mount, their relationship deteriorates into a dangerous rivalry. The drama unfolds as a tense suburban thriller, examining how everyday disagreements can escalate into ideological warfare in an increasingly polarised world.

Alan Cumming

Cumming, known for The Traitors and Glenrothan, expressed his excitement about finally collaborating with Davies: “Russell T Davies and I have been trying to work together for over 20 years. Now, not only are we working together but doing so with one of my dearest, oldest friends, Dave Morrissey, and in a piece of work I think is so brilliant and prescient and necessary. I don’t say this lightly, but this is truly an honour.”

David Morrissey

Morrissey, acclaimed for roles in Sherwood and Daddy Issues, echoed the sentiment: “It’s a privilege to be with them both on this astonishing piece of work. Alan and I have been friends for over 40 years, but we’ve never had the chance to work together until now.”

The ensemble cast includes Pooky Quesnel as Clive’s wife Marie, Jackson Connor and Joseph Evans as his sons, Elizabeth Berrington as Leo’s best friend Stephanie, and Charlie Condou as Leo’s ex-husband Curtis. The series also features Iz Hesketh, Shakeel Kimotho, Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo, Paul Rhys and Denise Welch.
