Alan Carr searches for a home fit for Royalty in 'Castle Man' for Disney+
"All I want is a turret to call my own - get me over that drawbridge!”
Bona fide national treasure Alan Carr is preparing for what may be the biggest undertaking of his life: buying and running a historic castle.
Disney+ has announced a brand-new Hulu Original series, Castle Man (working title), which will follow Carr as he searches for the perfect property.
With his 50th birthday fast approaching, Carr finds himself at a moment of reflection, taking stock of where he has been and where he wants to go next. He has long harboured dreams of owning a grand château, but following a transformative and much-talked-about stay at The Traitors castle, that fantasy is edging closer to reality - or at least being seriously tested. This is not about a fleeting visit; Carr wants to build a life in a castle, taking a leap of faith driven entirely by himself.
Speaking about the project, Carr said: “Some men when they have a midlife crisis buy a Lamborghini or grow a ponytail, but me - I want my very own castle. Since I was a boy in Northampton, I’ve always dreamt big, and have always been enchanted with the history and romance of a stately home and as I turn fifty, I feel it’s my time. All I want is a turret to call my own - get me over that drawbridge!”
Ben Wicks, creative director of entertainment at Expectation and executive producer, added: “What an incredible project: Alan Carr looking to buy a castle befitting his status as comedy royalty and a national treasure, and soon finding himself responsible for the very real, right royal pain of making it all work.
"We’re delighted to be following Alan’s dramatic - and undoubtedly hilarious - journey and doing so with Disney, who thankfully have a great deal more history with castles.”
