TransSober is to host a special event at Komedia Brighton on Friday, 18 July, 7 – 10pm, that promises to be a vibrant celebration of diversity and inclusion. Rhythm Retreat sober clubbing will raise vital funds for Trans Pride Brighton and is set to bring together the trans, non-binary, intersex, genderqueer, and gender nonconforming communities for an unforgettable night of sober clubbing.

This unique event will feature amazing dance tunes by DJ Xzan and DJ Amyfist Go-Go club dancers Penny Pound and Miz Lexia, dazzling face painting, creating an atmosphere of joy and unity. Sober clubbing offers a safe and inclusive space for everyone to enjoy the night without the influence of alcohol and drugs, emphasising the importance of mental and physical well-being. Plus, there will be delicious mocktails to keep everyone refreshed and energised throughout the night.

Why Sober Clubbing?

This will be TransSober’s third Rhythm Retreat sober clubbing event. According to organisers, sober clubbing is becoming increasingly popular as more people recognise the benefits of socialising without the influence of drugs and alcohol. Vernon from TransSober says: “For many, it provides a safer environment where they can fully enjoy the experience without the risks associated with alcohol and substance use. This is particularly important for the trans and non-binary communities, who already face unique challenges, stressors, and increasing discrimination.

“Living without drugs and alcohol can lead to numerous benefits, including improved mental clarity, better physical health, and enhanced emotional stability. It allows individuals to form genuine connections and engage in activities with a clear mind, enjoying a deeper sense of community and support.”

Everyone is Welcome

Everyone is welcome at this event, regardless of personal choices. Whether you live sober, are sober curious, or simply want to enjoy a night of fabulous music without drugs and alcohol, this event is for you. The only requirement is to respect that this is a sober event and refrain from participating in drugs and alcohol before and while attending.

Quiet Area hosted by Queer Sober Brighton

For those who prefer a more relaxed environment, there will be a small quiet area hosted by Queer Sober Brighton. This space will provide a calm and supportive atmosphere for attendees to unwind, connect, and enjoy the event at their own pace.

Fully Accessible Venue

The venue is fully wheelchair accessible, and there will be seats and tables equipped with fidget bands, as well as free ear plugs, ensuring that everyone can participate and enjoy the event without barriers.

Vernon add: “Trans Pride Brighton and TransSober have consistently been beacons of support and visibility for the trans+ community, and this TransSober event is no exception. It aims to create a sense of belonging and pride, enabling attendees to express themselves freely and celebrate their identities.

“Whether you’re looking to dance the night away or simply connect with others in a supportive sober environment, the Rhythm Retreat sober clubbing Trans Pride Brighton’s special is the place to be. Join us in celebrating the beauty of diversity and the strength of the trans+ community.

“So, let’s come together, Retreat from the drugs and alcohol, enjoy the Rhythm of the music’s call. Dance with joy in community’s embrace and celebrate your diversity in this harmonious space.”
