Third season of Pose to resume production

The third season of popular LGBTQ+ FX show Pose is due to resume production in October after the coronavirus pandemic halted filming in March 2020. Non-binary star of the series Indya Moore, who plays aspiring model Angel, told Variety in June said the ceasing of production was a ‘bittersweet moment’ for them, and the cast were ‘hanging in there’. Twitter users have expressed excitement at the return of the show, saying it ‘gives them hope’.

Non-binary actor Indya Moore plays Angel.

The highly acclaimed show – created by Steven Canals, Ryan Murphy, and Brad Falchuk – explores the queer Black and Latinx ballroom scene in the 1980s and 90s. It made history for featuring the largest cast of transgender actors on any television show as well as the largest cast of LGBTQ+ people on a scripted show. The show explores the characters lives in the face of topical issues such as HIV, capitalism, and racism. Them News also stated it reclaims the ‘rich heritage’ of ‘queer and trans people of colour at the forefront’ of LGBTQ+ culture.

Pose previously received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Drama Series, and star Billy Porter – who plays Pray Tell – is the first openly gay black man to win an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a drama series. The release date for season 3 has not yet been confirmed.
