PREVIEW: Live gigs return to Brighton Dome
Brian Butler takes a look at four shows which bring Brighton Dome back to life
A highly eclectic set of live gigs will hit Brighton when the Dome concert hall opens its doors for 4 consecutive Saturdays, starting on 17 October. Live Is Alive! – will offer 250 seats in cabaret-style format at the venue with many more being able to watch on live streaming.
From jazz fusion to punk, electro pop, and beat poetry, the concerts will showcase emerging young talent in the city and support grass roots venues who have been hit hard by the lockdown ban on live performances.
The organisers said: “ we want these events to represent hope and resilience and to re-ignite the music industry.”
Highlights include:
17 October: West African fusion, funk, ska and electro pop by Immersion and Bakk Lamp Fall- bringing Senegal sounds along with singer Khadim Sarr.
24 October: Grunge punk from Brighton’s Indie underground scene by DITZ. They’ll be joined by LibraLibra, Lambrini Girls and Wife Swap USA.
31 October: Power punk from Demob Happy, Sick Joy, Proejector and CLT DRP.
7 November: Jazz, soul, reggae and ska from Daka Skanks, Super Dupes , Normanton Street and AFLO the poet.
