Max Baby unveils his latest EP, BREAK

Paris based multi instrumentalist, producer and songwriter Max Baby announces the arrival of his second EP, BREAK set for release on 07.11 alongside the explosive new single Fakdap. Following the moody allure of debut single I Can Do Anything and the intoxicating grooves of Feet.

Both of which will also feature on the forthcoming EP. Max returns with a track that sharpens his signature sound into something even more visceral.

With jagged guitars, seismic basslines, breakbeat driven drums and a wall of distorted textures, Fakdap captures the abrasive intensity that has fast become his calling card.

It’s a haunting, high-voltage cut that thrums with urgency, each sound resonating like a heartbeat. Marking the next chapter in his rise, BREAK promises seven tracks that push further into Max Baby’s raw, uncompromising aesthetic cementing his place as one of the most exciting new forces in music.

In his words, Max Baby said “​​I have this recurring dream: I leap into the air, soaring higher and higher. But when gravity pulls me back, the ground is gone, and I’m left falling endlessly."

At its core, Fakdap is about grappling with inner chaos, asking why things have to end, searching for a sense of home, and realizing that recovery isn’t something you can do entirely alone. It’s a reminder that if you’re struggling, whether with depression or anything else, it’s okay to reach out for help.

"It may sound heavy, but to me this song transforms that weight into something light, cathartic, and even euphoric, turning struggle into release."

BREAK arrives hot on the heels of a summer festival run that saw Max Baby light up stages at Rock en Seine in France, All Points East in the UK, and Germany’s Reeperbahn Festival. It was made at his creative home Greasy Studios-the former base of French prog legends Magma.

With an instinctive ear and a creative drive that spans instruments, disciplines, and genres, Max Baby was always destined to be a musician.

Oh and yessss Baby is his real surname btw, I wondered too! Passed down through three generations from the children of a WWI captain who were adopted into the family. Born near Bourges in central France-an area with no local music scene-his artistic impulse came entirely from within.

After early band projects, Max is now emerging under his own name, presenting a fully formed artistic identity. Though he loosely describes his music as alternative rock, Max Baby’s sound is anything but conventional. Guided by his synaesthesia, he builds tracks from the ground up, crafting vivid, nocturnal textures-a signature heard throughout his debut EP OUT OF CONTROL, INTO THE WALL, which was released in late 2024.

As well as the aforementioned appearances at Rock en Seine, All Points East and Reeperbahn, earlier this year Max Baby was one of the stand-out artists at The Great Escape festival in Brighton where NME hailed him as one of the best new acts of the festival.

He has also just been announced as one of their esteemed First Fifty artists to showcase next year, for which he will play DIY Magazine’s showcase at London’s Moth Club on 13th November. Elsewhere, he has opened for Franz Ferdinand and performed live on French primetime television for France Music Week x Fête de La Musique alongside Christine and the Queens and La Femme.
