In the fast-paced universe of modern music and digital creativity, few artists have managed to craft a unique career as bold as Adam Wright aka Adamusic-a dynamic Los Angeles-based mashup artist, DJ, producer, pop artist and content creator.

Renowned for his seamless mashups and elite taste in pop music, Adamusic has redefined how we experience pop music, turning familiar hits into electrifying new soundscapes. Most impressively he remixed Stronger by the legendary Miss Britney Spears featuring on the 25th anniversary edition of one of the most iconic albums ever, Oops!... I Did It Again which came out this year-wowowowowow an honour that speaks volumes about his impact on the industry!

For our readers who might not know you yet, could you share a bit about who you are and what do you do?

I’m a die-hard pop music enthusiast from Grand Rapids, Michigan in the US who somehow turned his love for mashups into a full-time DJ career.

I started making mashups and remixes over a decade ago, posting them to YouTube as a fun hobby. Over time, my following grew and I eventually went on to study music production in LA. Nowadays, I DJ across the country, bringing my mashups and original remixes to clubs and festivals.

Can you recall which of your mashups was the first to go viral and how did you feel in that moment?

I vividly remember the day my first mashup went viral actually. In 2015, I put out a mix of Selena Gomez’s Same Old Love with Justin Bieber’s Sorry and given the eyes on their relationship, it exploded online.

My phone blew up, I got tagged in a bunch of viral posts on Twitter and Instagram, and it was the first time I ever experienced the rush of virality. I was 14 and less than a year into posting mashups at that moment, so it was great validation to have that moving forward.

How did you get involved with the 25th anniversary edition of Britney’s Oops!... I Did It Again album? Your Stronger remix is absolutely top-tier.

I appreciate it! I got recruited last fall by Britney’s team, and I had the privilege of working with them and Sony Legacy on the creation of the remix. Out of all the songs from the album, I knew Stronger was the song I wanted.

There was no direction provided to me, so I got to come up with the composition from the ground up.

It was integral to me to include all of the vocal and instrumental elements that made the song so iconic in the first place. I’m so grateful that the remix has been so well received.

Has Britney ever reached out to you? I know the Britney army would love to know what she thought of your remix.

I haven’t communicated with her directly, no, but she’s also taken a step back from music. She’s had such a long and iconic career, and she deserves the break, especially considering what she’s dealt with.

I’d love to speak to her someday though!

You dropped the euphoric In My Dreams as your debut single under the name Adamusic earlier this year-do you have plans to follow it up with more singles or maybe even an EP or full album?

More music to come for sure. I don’t have any current plans for an EP or album, but I’ve been working on some more original songs, as well as a ton of remixes.

I released an album, Main Character, under my old artist name (Adam Wright) back in 2022, and while it was a joy to see it come together, it’s not something I think I can tackle again at this time. I’m still figuring out what I truly want my sound to be.

Is there a story behind your artist name?

Growing up, I was obsessed with the music animation show, Animusic. I feel like it was one of my first hyper-fixations, and when I started playing around with GarageBand as a kid, I’d name my little albums Adamusic-inspired by the show.

I always thought the shared “m” between “Adam” and “music” was clever, until I started booking gigs and realised half of people think my name is Ada and the other half spell it Adammusic.

Your mashup pairings are always perfection, what's your creative process like when it comes to planning and producing a mashup?

Mashups, in concept, are not difficult to create at all, but I do pride myself into how much work I put into mine-especially the full versions on YouTube and SoundCloud. I always try to create from a dynamic perspective, and I want listeners to experience highs and lows.

A lot of the creative process has become second nature to me, since I’ve been doing this for 11 years.

I also have a Bachelor’s in Music Production and Recording, so I’ve studied a lot of music theory and ear training. Having a good grasp on key and time signatures is huge for DJing and creating remixes. Some mashup ideas come to me randomly, while others are a product of hours of cycling through my catalog to find a good fit.

It's August but have you started brainstorming your epic year-end mashup yet or are you holding off until December?

I keep a list of songs on my phone throughout year, so I’m always brainstorming a little bit as projects come out.

To be completely honest, this year has been a bit harder compared to last year because the charts have been so dead in 2025. Last year was such a huge year for pop music, so this year has been bit more sparse when it comes to big pop releases. I definitely have a few ideas for this year’s mix but I have not begun any prep work yet.

Social media has been a major part of building your career but how do you stay true to yourself while navigating the constant pressure to perform online?

Social media has been such an interesting beast to tackle in terms of separating work and life. I’ve been a barista and worked in a warehouse in the past, and neither of those jobs consumed my life as much as social media does.

I do love it (social media), and I’m so incredibly lucky to have it as part of my career, but it’s definitely raised some unhealthy habits when it comes to my self-esteem and worth.

I try to stay grounded and “touch grass” anytime I find myself succumbing to the pressure. There’s only so much you can do when you’re up against an algorithm that’s completely out of your control so I try to put my energy into things I can control.

What else do you get up to in LA when you're not working?

I recently moved, so I’ve been doing a lot of walking around in my new neighbourhood which has been nice. I love a happy hour, hikes, and arcades. A new recent obsession of mine has been Walt’s, which is a pinball arcade in Glendale.

My boyfriend recently opened up a dance studio, Dream House Dance Factory, so I’ve been taking a lot of classes and getting back into dancing as well. I’m also a huge Nintendo fanboy, so I’m usually the first person in the room to ask to play Mario Party or Mario Kart.

In a parallel universe, what career path might you be walking?

There was always a part of me that thought I could be a teacher. I had a lot of teacher’s pet tendencies in school, so that was probably my inspiration. I also had a little phase where I wanted to design video games, and I even learned enough java script code to create my own Rock, Paper, Scissors game.

Have you ever or do you have plans to bring the pop girl mashups to the UK and DJ across the pond?

I would LOVE to. I have yet to be able to bring my mashups outside of the US, but it’s a big hope for me in 2026. I’ve had a few offers, but nothing has lined up perfectly yet. I’m manifesting it!
