Sunday January 27 marks the 68th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the Nazi concentration and extermination camp which is the site of the largest mass murder in history. In the weeks running up to the day, the Holocaust Educational Trust have placed a Book of Commitment in the House of Commons to give Members of Parliament the chance to honour those who were persecuted and killed during the Holocaust. Many members of the public have used the day as an opportunity to actively speak out against prejudice and bigotry.

Mike Weatherley, the Conservative MP for Hove and Portslade, has marked Holocaust Memorial Day by signing the Book of Commitment in Parliament.

Mike said:

“This is the third time that I have signed the Holocaust Memorial Day Book of Commitment as Member of Parliament for Hove and Portslade. Holocaust Memorial Day is an important reminder of the awful genocide that took place during the Holocaust and I would encourage anyone who wants to learn about the excellent work of the Holocaust Education Trust to visit their website.”
