Mike Weatherley, the Conservative MP for Hove and Portslade, has backed an Early Day Motion that highlights the rising number of patients in the UK with throat cancer and draws attention to the link between the human papilloma virus and the disease.
EDM 980 (Gender-Neutral Human Papilloma Virus Immunisation Programme) draws attention to the benefits of a large-scale immunisation programme and has received cross-party support. The motion also urges the Government to improve public awareness of throat cancer and to ensure early diagnosis and treatment.
Mike said:
“Sadly the incidence rate of throat cancer has increased massively in the past decade. However, more can be done to tackle this disease, so I am urging the Government by signing this motion to give serious consideration to reviewing its health policy in this area.”
