Brighton and Hove Green Party have published their full list of candidates for the 54 seats in the May 2015 council elections.
Cllr Sue Shanks
COUNCILLOR Sue Shanks, the party’s election coordinator, is the Chair of the Children and Young People Committee and is standing again in Withdean.
She said:“We’re pleased to be offering a strong line-up of candidates from across the city, including serving councillors and experienced campaigners who bring with them a great range of knowledge and expertise.
“It is very refreshing to see a variety of backgrounds in an age of professional career politicians. Our candidates bring professional expertise and real-world experience which is sorely needed in both local and national government. They include education professionals such as teachers and youth workers, recognised experts in housing, the environment and animal rights, care workers who have seen the government’s assault on the care services at first hand, people working in the arts and a number of successful and sometimes prominent local business leaders, not to mention two former Labour Party councillors.
“It’s equally refreshing to see a variety of ages and personal circumstances, with both elders and younger people represented and, quite unusually for councillors other than Greens, people with young families and parents of children who use our children’s centres and attend our local schools.”
