Around 90 runners entered the inaugural Brighton Pride, 5km Rainbow Fun Run on Sunday, July 27 at Preston Park as part of this years Brighton Pride fundraising campaign.

Many of the registered runners joined in the spirit of the occasion, dressing in 70s disco and super heroes fancy dress attire.

Hostess for the occasion was Dolly Rocket who with the help of the ‘very fit’ personal trainer and hypnotherapist, Matthew Etherington took the runners through some warmup exercises to 70s disco tracks including YMCA.

Paul Elgood, Chair of the Rainbow Fund joined in the warm up excercises but pulled a muscle and had to withdraw gracefully.
He said: “I take my fitness very seriously so it was disappointing not to be able to complete the run. However, I would like to thank everyone who registered to run and raise money for the Rainbow Fund to distribute to our local LGBT/HIV organisations who provide effective front line services to the LGBT community in Brighton & Hove.”

Elaine Evans recently awarded the British Empire Medal in the Queens Birthday Honours list for her support of the arts in Sussex was among the runners. Elaine is a great supporter and friend of the Actually Gay Men’s Chorus.
She said: “I have had a bad spine so will just be walking round the course to show my support for the wonderful work that Brighton Pride do for our local organisations.”
