Music has been embedded in my life ever since I was in the womb, my Mum and Dad basically raised me on music, especially POP music! I grew up listening to Madonna, Mariah Carey, Kylie Minogue, Spice Girls, Britney Spears and even AQUA and I’ve always been obsessed with pop culture and Eurovison! I love sharing my favourite songs and album every month with the world from Scene HQ!

JADE – FUFN (Fuck You For Now)

We’re all witnessing the rise of the one and only JADE-the true Angel of the North! Written by JADE with music icon RAYE, Dave Hamelin, and co-produced by Lostboy, FUFN (Fuck You For Now) is an electrifying and dramatic pop song packed with attitude and I personally think she’s constantly outdoing herself and currently has me in a chokehold.

JADE said “FUFN is the escalation of an argument we’ve all had, knowing it’s not the end but feeling all the anger in the moment. It’s the channeling of female rage into a badass big pop banger.” and “this isn’t a break up song – it’s a you’ve pissed me off leave me alone and we might be ok after song.” I’m obsessed with Jade’s effortless attention to detail, it’s just impeccable and we have no choice but to throw her them roses!

Sugababes – Jungle

Sugababes ARE. SO. BACK! It’s an immaculate time to be a Sugababes fan after what feels like 84 years because Jungle is finally here via their own label distributed by The Orchard and it’s, well, simply a bop! Jungle is an irresistible slice of pop perfection, with elements of 2 step, garage and alt-pop woven together with the girls trademark vocal harmonies.

Production powerhouse Jon Shave (Grammy winner for Charli xcx’s BRAT album), and acclaimed songwriters Anya Jones (Lola Young, Purple Disco Machine, Kylie), and Wayne Hector (Tate McRae, Nicki Minaj, Mahalia, Burna Boy) were enlisted for the explosive new single taken from their upcoming 9th studio album. Jungle was co-written by Mutya Buena, Keisha Buchanan and Siobhán Donaghy too of course.

The sacred three said “We are so excited to release Jungle and cement this new chapter for us, after what has been an incredible 3 years on the road.  As soon as it was written, it felt like the perfect thing for people to hear first.  A song about escaping the 9-5 grind, we hope everyone can let their inner animal out when they hear this!”

Remember Monday – What The Hell Just Happened?

Lauren Byrne, Holly-Anne Hull and Charlotte Steele are Remember Monday and are officially flying the flag for the UK at the 69th Eurovision Song Contest in Basel (in Switzerland) in May! The girls have been best friends since they met in 2013 in sixth form and have earned a reputation for their strong vocals and perfectly blended harmonies. Delicious! What The Hell Just Happened? is an upbeat pop track full of energy, excitement and drama and chronicles the aftermath of a fun night out with friends perfectly showcasing the band’s humour, relatability and their signature harmonies.

The trio co-wrote the song with Billen Ted (Tom Hollings and Sam Brennan who have worked with Little Mix, Anne Marie and MNEK), Thomas Stengaard (wrote Denmark’s 2013 Eurovision winning song Only Teardrops) and Julie ‘Kill J’ Aagaard is both a multi-platinum songwriter and a successful experimental pop artist in her own right.

The girls said “What The Hell Just Happened? is exactly how we’re feeling right now! It’s all very surreal; our friendship goes so far back, and we definitely never imagined that we’d be doing anything like this. When you’re a kid and people ask you what you want to be when you grow up, an absolute classic is “I wanna be a pop star”, so the fact that we’re getting the chance to live that dream as three best friends is just wild. We’re going to be the first girlband to represent the UK since 1999, which feels like such a crazy honour. We’re going to bring loads of fun, energy and hopefully do something that you won’t have seen before on the Eurovision stage….We honestly can’t wait to experience this with all of the other incredible artists from around the world, and hopefully make everyone back at home feel proud! This is really the music World Cup and we’ll do our best to bring it home!”

New fan right here and I definitely think the girls have a huge chance to harmonise their way to Eurovision victory, eyes, toes and fingers crossed!

Victoria Silvstedt  – Love It!

Miss Sweden aka Victoria Silvstedt performed Love It! at Husqvarna Garden in Jönköping last month in a battle with five other artists in a bid to secure a spot in the Melodifestivalen final to represent Sweden this year at Eurovision and I’m so bummed that she didn’t make it to the final….#JusticeForLoveIt!

Victoria said “Last summer, I was working with Jimmy Jansson and Thomas G:son (both known for their work on Loreen’s Eurovision-winning tracks Euphoria and Tattoo) who were writing songs specifically for Eurovision.” and “When they came to me with this song, I felt honoured. I couldn’t say no!”

Victoria’s musical past includes her 1999 pop album Girl on the Run which achieved gold status in Sweden. The album featured singles like Hello Hey, Rocksteady Love (featuring Turbo B), and Party Line. In 2010, she released a cover of Whigfield’s Saturday Night too which was iconic but back to Love It! Victoria was robbed, this song is giving recession pop vibes and escapism and sometimes that’s exactly what we need.

Lizzo – Still Bad

It’s about damn time for brand new Lizzo music! After legal drama in 2023, Lizzo is back turning up the heat yet again serving up her new single Still Bad via Nice Life Recording Company/Atlantic Records. Lizzo remains as unapologetic as ever on the enthusiastic and self-assured anthem.

A thumping bass line sets the tempo for the track between pulsating eighties-style keys and head-nodding claps. She comes to a realisation on the chorus, “I don’t need him. I need a drink,” giving way to a fiery funk guitar. Embracing confidence, charisma, and her power, she incites an irresistible chant, “After everything, I’m still surviving and I’m still bad, baby, so bitch I can’t complain.”

She’s not just Still Bad; there’s no one badder in 2025.…

Abor & Tynna – Baller

Abor & Tynna are siblings from Vienna. They come from a musical family – their father is a cellist with the Vienna Philharmonic (an orchestra that was founded in 1842 and is considered to be one of the finest in the world-no big deal) and has influenced their musical careers since they were young. Both learned to play classical instruments as children and their first songs together were written in 2016. Last year the duo supported German singer Nina Chuba.

Abor & Tynna won the German national selection competition (Chefsache ESC 2025) last month to represent Germany at Eurovision in May and this is the first song that’ll be performed at Eurovision in German since 2007! I love it when entries are in their native language, plus Baller is a modern, contemporary, catchy entry and I’m predicting they’ll be on the left side of the board.

Luka Nižetić – Južina

Singer-songwriter Luka Nižetić is one of the most successful Croatian artists and took part in Dora last month (the Croatian pre-selection for Eurovision) with his earworm, Južina. Luka discovered his talent for music at a young age, learning the piano thanks to a local nun! His music career soon grew from there, releasing his first song at the age of 17.

Luka finished 5th out of 16 participants at Dora. He penned Južinaon by himself and he can sing while performing choreography. He would’ve slayed the main stage in Switzerland! Fun fact: Južina is a phenomenon in the Croatian region of Dalmatia, apparently it’s a wind responsible for bad moods, nausea, lack of sleep, migraines and lack of concentration. Apparently it’s a serious weather condition that affects the life of Dalmatia’s noble citizens so yeah, that’s what the song is about (I think) and the official music video (and Luka’s performance for Dora) suddenly make more sense!

Låpsley – HURRICANE

Independent and underrated artist Låpsley dropped a gorgeous single called Hurricane taken from her upcoming album I’M A HURRICANE I’M A WOMAN IN LOVE. HURRICANE marks her first release as an independent artist via her own label Her Own Recordings following her previous works including debut album Long Way Home, 2020’s Through Water, 2023’s Cautionary Tales Of Youth (my personal fave Låpsley album), and last year’s EP A Guilty Heart Can Never Rest.

Holly (aka Låpsley) said “HURRICANE is an unapologetic expression of the love from a woman. An omnipotent, unbridled love. A love that’s feared and revered. Pierce your flag into the ground to affirm. Love to return. Love for the sake of free will. Love in protest. Love in chaos. Love in peace. A wild, misunderstood magic,”.

Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco – Sunset Blvd

Sunset Blvd was the second single from Selena Gomez‘s and Benny Blanco‘s collaborative studio album, I Said I Love You First. I’m loving the album but Sunset Blvd is my favourite track! Selena said it was inspired by her and Benny’s first date on the historic street in Los Angeles nawww and it’s a campy ambient pop number.

I love the random “biggggg, bigggggggg, biggggggggg hard….heart!” part, it makes me lol but the whole song is a vibe.

Pol Prince – 24 Posturas

I’ve been on holiday in Lanzarote recently and I kept hearing this song every where and then the video randomly popped up on my YouTube homepage, our phones definitely listen to us but I’m grateful this time because I never would’ve known how easy on the eye Pol Prince is!

Definitely my….crush of the month not just crush of the day but of the day too! This song will forever remind me of laying by the pool sipping Tropical lemon Canarian beer whenever I hear it now :).

ALBUM OF THE MONTH: Lady Gaga – Mayhem

LG7 is here! 13-time Grammy Award-winner Lady Gaga dropped her highly anticipated seventh studio album, MAYHEM via Interscope Records and it’s even better than I imagined-I knew it would be because it’s Ms Germanotta we’re talking about and it’s her best album yet!

Blending the electric energy that first captivated us little monsters with a bold, fearless artistic vision, MAYHEM marks a triumphant return to Gaga’s pop roots. The album explores themes of chaos and transformation, celebrating music’s power to unite, provoke and heal.

Far from a nostalgic throwback, MAYHEM reinvents Gaga’s early sound with a kaleidoscopic approach that draws from her expansive musical library while embracing a fresh and fearless artistic perspective. Gaga describes the creative process as “reassembling a shattered mirror: even if you can’t put the pieces back together perfectly, you can create something beautiful and whole in its own new way.”

Producers on the album include Gaga herself, Andrew Watt, Cirkut and Gesaffelstein. Mayhem has received well deserved praise for its production, stylistic variety and cohesion with notable inspiration drawn from her musical predecessors such as David Bowie, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Prince, Nine Inch Nails and Siouxsie and the Banshees.

Gaga said “The album is imbued with my love for music: a diversity of genres, styles, and dreams. It leaps from one genre to another in a manner that feels almost corrupt, and it culminates in love. That’s my answer to all the chaos in my life: I find peace in love. Every song I wrote emerged from surrendering to different dreams tied to my past, almost like a recollection of all the bad decisions I’ve made throughout my life. There are moments where we sonically push the sound to extremes, and others where everything revolves around love. That, to me, represents true chaos. It’s sometimes difficult to see the light, but I think what makes inner chaos more challenging is when you occasionally catch a glimpse of the sun. For this reason, the album offers a bit of everything. It’s a complete experience.”

Fun fact: Mayhem topped the album charts in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Scotland, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland, the UK and the US-achieving the largest first week sales of the year for a female album in the lattermost nation in 2025 wowowowowowowow.

Mayhem is truly a full reflection of Gaga’s musical evolution! My favourite tracks are Perfect Celebrity, Shadow of a Man, Zombieboy, Don’t Call Tonight, Vanish Into You, Killah, Disease, Garden of Eden, How Bad Do U Want Me, The Beast, Die with a Smile (with our Bruno), Blade of Grass oh and Abracadabra which is sublime, well every track is. Roll on Gaga’s Coachella headlining slot and The Mayhem Ball.
