David Plant has been selected to stand as the Conservative candidate in the East Brighton by-election on August 4.
Mr Plant is standing as a candidate as he passionately believes in East Brighton residents having a strong voice that is heard on Brighton and Hove City Council and that he can make a difference.
Plant was born in Brighton and lived in Whitehawk from the age of 8 until he married and moved away aged 23.
He went to Whitehawk School as a youngster, was a chorister at St Cuthman’s church and is proud to have played and captained the Whitehawk Football club first team whose development he still follows with interest.
Plant is an electrician by trade, is married to Paula and has two grown up children. He is very involved in charity work, including organisation of an annual golf day where the proceeds are donated to charity.
The by-election was called following Labour Councillor Maggie Baradell’s decision to stand down for person reasons.
