Brighton Stonewall 10k Equality Walk raises more than £43,000
Nearly 700 people took to the streets of Brighton on Sunday, May 8 to raise funds for Stonewall the LGBT equality charity in their annual 10k Stonewall Equality Walk. Musicians from the London Gay Big Band entertained the walkers as they registered in Royal Pavilion Gardens.
Nearly 700 people took to the streets of Brighton on Sunday, May 8 to raise funds for Stonewall the LGBT equality charity on their annual 10k Stonewall Equality Walk.

Speeches followed from soap stars Bethany Black and Alicya Eyo who were hosting the walk and Stonewall CEO Ruth Hunt highlighted the importance of Stonewall’s campaigning work being exported into countries where LGBT people do not enjoy the same rights as we have in the UK.
Then the Mayor of Brighton and Hove, Cllr Brian Fitch and his wife Nora marshalled the walkers to the starting line, cut the ribbon and everyone was off on their walk round the city.
At the time of going to press the walk has raised £43.000 with more donations to come, which Stonewall will use to help with “their work in schools, workplaces, health care providers, government agencies and many others, to build a world where every person is free to live without fear regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation.”
