Launched in 2021, the Big Free Community Event is part of Birmingham Pride, and this year it will return for a second time.
The event will be held at the Smithfield site, which is the main site for the full weekend line-up, including Beck Hill and Steps. The community event will be held on Friday, September 23, ahead of the other Pride events across the Saturday and Sunday.
The event will include a candlelit vigil, keynote speakers, the Secret Symphony presents DIVA, community stalls and food stalls. Plus, there will be performances, live music, and other LGBTQ+ talent yet to be announced.
Although the event is free, you will need to apply for tickets online to secure your place as tickets are limited and will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis.
Support independent LGBTQ+ journalism
Scene was founded in Brighton in 1993, at a time when news stories about Pride protests were considered radical. Since then, Scene has remained proudly independent, building a platform for queer voices. Every subscription helps us to report on the stories that matter to LGBTQ+ people across the UK and beyond.
Your support funds our journalists and contributes to Pride Community Foundation’s grant-making and policy work.
