# Valley Gardens Phase 3 public consultation now open

Brighton & Hove City Council (BHCC) is seeking your views on the agreed design for [**Valley Gardens PHASE 3**](http://www.brighton-hove.gov.uk/valleygardens?ref=scenemag.co.uk) – the **Old Steine** to the **Palace Pier** area. In October 2018, BHCC sought views on a preferred design for the area and results from this consultation were used to develop this design which was then approved by the **Environment, Transport and Sustainability Committee** in February 2019.

The key principles of the design include:

- Traffic layout on the eastern side of the Old Steine
- New areas of public space
- New traffic signals at the Palace Pier junction replacing the current roundabout
- The route of the cycle lanes to the west of the Old Steine

You have till **Wednesday, September 16** to submit your views and the results of this consultation will be reported to the Environment, Transport and Sustainability Committee on **Tuesday, November 24**, 2020 together with any proposed changes to the detail of the design. The committee will then make a decision on the final design. It is expected that construction could start in **Spring 2021** and be completed by **Autumn 2022**.
