# Top LGBTQ+ employers announced

In a new [report](https://www.stonewall.org.uk/our-work/campaigns/stonewall-top-global-employers-2020?ref=scenemag.co.uk), LGBTQ+ organisation **Stonewall** has announced the top global employers for LGBTQ+ people based on its **Global Workplace Equality Index (GWEI)**. The index – created by Stonewall with the aim to help employers create more inclusive workplaces – takes into account factors such as internal policies and ally programmes.

**Zurich**, **NatWest** and **GSK** were some of the 17 total employers that have been recognised as the most LGBTQ+ inclusive workplaces in the world. Stonewall [congratulated](https://twitter.com/stonewalluk/status/1307946627433402371?ref=scenemag.co.uk) the organisations on Twitter. **Nick Read**, CEO of **Vodafone** who were included in the list, said: *“I am incredibly proud that Vodafone has been recognised as a Stonewall Top Global Employer. Inclusion for All is core to who we are at Vodafone and we remain committed to an inclusive and equal workplace for our LGBT colleagues where they can be themselves.”*

120 countries do not have any laws protecting LGBTQ+ people from employment discrimination. **Nancy Kelley**, chief executive of Stonewall, [described](https://www.personneltoday.com/hr/stonewall-top-global-employers-2020-lgbt/?ref=scenemag.co.uk) the top LGBTQ+ employer’s work as ‘inspiring’. Countries such as **Poland** and **Hungary** have greatly restricted LGBTQ+ rights in 2020, so Kelley believes it is ‘crucial for companies like our Top Global Employers to step up and make sure their LGBTQ+ staff and customers are looked after’.
