**Comedian** **Sajeela Kershi** will perform her highly acclaimed *Immigrant Diaries* show at the event, in which she tells her own story of being an immigrant from Pakistan in an ever-changing Britain.

Kershi, who has previously performed at the Edinburgh, Glasgow and Brighton Fringe Festival, is just one of the acts taking part in the *Migration Awareness Day* which will be held at the University of Sussex on Saturday, October 15.

The event, hosted by the University’s Global Voices Team and supported by the Sussex Centre For Migration Research, aims to highlight the issues around migration to the general public, with all proceeds from the day going to two Brighton based charities – the **Migrant English Project** and **Sanctuary by the Sea**.

The stellar line-up will feature musical performances from **Lekan Babalola’s** Sacred Funk Project, theatre from **Mukul** and the **Ghetto Tigers** and a screening of **Amir Amirani’s** acclaimed film *We are Many*.

Special guests will also include indie art rockers **Port Erin**, Iranian born filmmaker **Amir Amirani** and afro jazz dance band **Joko** – plus many more acts hosted in venues across the University campus.

**Professor Andrea Cornwall, Head of the School of Global Studies, said:** *“From the millions of refugees displaced by the conflict in Syria to the negotiations around leaving the European Union – the global issues around migration affect us all.*

*“It is vital that we raise awareness of these issues and we are thrilled to have such amazing acts coming to the University of Sussex to help us do this.”*

Tickets are £5 for a day ticket and £10 for a daytime / evening ticket.
