American television personality **Kathie Lee Gifford** is facing backlash following comments made during a recent appearance on political commentator **Tomi Lahren**’s podcast, *Tomi Lahren Is Fearless*. During the interview, Gifford remarked that the LGBTQ+ community uses “too many letters” in its acronym - a statement that has since prompted widespread criticism online.

The discussion began as Lahren pressed Gifford on how she reconciles being a “hardcore Christian” while claiming to support LGBTQ+ issues. Gifford responded with her oft‑repeated view that Christianity is fundamentally about “L‑O‑V‑E, love,” and noted she has had “as many or more gay friends than straight friends.” However, she went on to express frustration with the length of the LGBTQ+ acronym, saying, “I don’t even know how many letters there are now. They’ve really got to stop with that. We know what you mean, you know?”

The remarks quickly went viral, sparking accusations of insensitivity and thinly veiled homophobia. Social‑media users condemned the former *Today* host, with some branding her a “closet homophobe” and others mocking her inability to keep up with the evolving acronym.

Gifford defended her broader stance during the interview, emphasising that she does not judge others, insisting, “That’s God’s business.”She reiterated her belief that Christians should prioritise loving others - even those they disagree with - over casting judgement. Nevertheless, critics argue that dismissing the LGBTQ+ acronym as excessive undermines her professed message of acceptance.
