# Sussex Health and Care Partnership speaks out for trans inclusion

The Sussex Health and Care Partnership (SHCP) has affirmed its commitment to trans and non-binary inclusion in a [statement](https://www.sussexhealthandcare.uk/2021/07/our-commitment-to-inclusion-in-sussex/?ref=scenemag.co.uk) released last week. The SCHP, which oversees 13 Sussex-based organisations in what is known as an integrated care system, said it recognises the impact that *“national policy discussions and media attention around the rights and freedoms of trans and non-binary people will be having on our trans community, patients and staff.”*

It reiterated that it has a *“zero tolerance”* approach to transphobia and any other forms of discrimination, and is striving to create more accessible services for trans and non-binary people. Gray Hutchins, service development Manager at Brighton and Hove Clare Project said the organisation is working *“alongside local healthcare commissioners to ensure all developments made are informed by the lived experience of our communities.”*

They added: *“Access to inclusive healthcare is a fundamental stepping stone towards equality in the bigger picture of our experience of everyday discrimination, and we are committed to ensuring Sussex paves the way for much-needed progress.”*  SHCP leader Adam Doyle then highlighted the importance of being trans allies, *“listening to our trans colleagues and patients and avoiding assumptions*”.
