Sugababes have officially launched a new chapter in their career, announcing a self-titled album due for release on 12 February 2027 and sharing its latest single, *Ghost*.

The album marks the first full studio record from the reunited original line-up of Sugababes members **Keisha Buchanan**, **Mutya Buena** and **Siobhán Donaghy** since reclaiming the group's name and rebuilding their career over the past decade. The 12-track collection follows a run of recent releases including *Jungle*, *Shook* and *Weeds*.

Leading the announcement is new single *Ghost*, a soulful pop track inspired by a painful experience from Donaghy's youth. Speaking to *British Vogue*, she revealed the song was rooted in her first serious romance. “He essentially ghosted me before we even had the terminology for it,” Donaghy said.

“I remember joking at the time that in some ways it would have been easier if he’d died, which is obviously incredibly dramatic, but there’s something strange about grieving someone who’s still out there.”

Donaghy also reflected on the band's distinctive sound, telling the magazine: “We weren’t consciously trying to make something that sounded like an old Sugababes record, but once the three voices are on something with that slightly raw, soulful quality, I think it naturally starts to feel like us.”

The announcement comes after years of anticipation from fans. The original trio reunited in 2011, initially performing under the name MKS because of a lengthy legal battle over the Sugababes trademark. The group successfully regained the name in 2019 and have since enjoyed a remarkable resurgence, including acclaimed festival appearances and major arena shows.

In the same interview, Buchanan reflected on the challenges involved in reclaiming the group's identity, telling *British Vogue*: “I had to take on a few giants.” She said the battle centred on rights contained within previous contracts and was neither straightforward nor cheap.

According to album details released alongside the announcement, the record explores “new emotional and sonic territory” while retaining the honesty and chemistry that have defined the trio since their debut. The songs were written by Buchanan, Buena and Donaghy alongside a hand-picked team of songwriters and producers.

The Babes also used the album announcement to thank fans who have supported them throughout the highs and lows of their career.

In a message accompanying the announcement, Buchanan, Buena and Donaghy hinted that more surprises are still to come.

“There’s so much more we’ve been keeping from you, and over the next few months we finally get to start sharing it all,” they wrote. “We can’t wait for you to hear more and to show you everything that’s gone into making this record.”

The group also paid tribute to the loyal fanbase that has followed them through line-up changes, legal battles and their eventual return as the original trio.

“And to everyone who has stayed with us, supported us, come to the shows and played the records, thank you for allowing us to keep doing this.

“This is for you.”
