A mural for Egyptian human rights activist **Sarah Hegazi**, who took her own life while living in exile in **Canada** after [being arrested, detained and tortured](https://edition.cnn.com/2020/06/17/middleeast/sarah-hegazi-egypt-intl/index.html?ref=scenemag.co.uk) for raising the LGBTQ+ flag at a concert in **Cairo** in 2017, was revealed at **York Grove,** Brighton at the weekend.

The mural includes Sarah’s final words – *“To the world. You were cruel, but I forgive you”* – and **Sara Alsherif**, who organised the mural painting event, played Sarah’s favourite music while artists worked on it.

Sara Alsherif, said: ‘*Thank you to the fantastic artists, and everyone who helped to bring this mural to the light.’*

The mural to Sarah Hegazi is located at **York Grove, Brighton, BN1 3TT.**
