**York** arts organisation **QueerArts** has announced the location of its new permanent community space, describing it as a place where LGBTQ+ people can be creative, connect with others and "truly be you".

The group revealed that its new home will be at **32 Walmgate**, marking a significant step forward for the organisation as it continues to expand its presence in the city.

Announcing the news on social media, QueerArts said: "Your new QueerArts space will be at 32 Walmgate, York."

The organisation described its vision for the venue as "a queer, creative and inclusive space" and said it "can't wait to start turning it into somewhere you can truly be you".

While plans for the building are still in development, QueerArts is inviting the community to help shape its future.

The group has launched a creative challenge asking supporters to produce their own artistic impressions of what the venue could become, using a photograph of the space as inspiration.

"Fancy creating an alternative artist's impression?" the organisation asked. "Use the viewpoint shown in our photo as your starting point and show us what you imagine this space could become."

In a light-hearted nod to the rise of artificial intelligence-generated artwork, QueerArts added: "And please, no AI, we want to see your imagination!"

The organisation is also looking for people who would like to play a role in developing the new LGBTQ+ hub.

"Whether you'd like to volunteer, contribute an idea, help develop the space or get involved in some other way, get in touch," the group said.

Artwork submissions and offers of support can be sent to **hello@queerarts.co.uk**.

Describing the announcement as "just the beginning", QueerArts promised more updates as work begins to transform the Walmgate venue into a dedicated queer arts and community space.

"We've got the space. We've got some ideas," the organisation said. "This is just the beginning. Keep following the excitement."
