# Queer Bloomsbury:  a celebration of queer imagination, art and community at Charleston

From radical conversations and drag-infused performance to live art, cabaret spirit and a midsummer dancefloor, [**Queer Bloomsbury 2026**](https://marlboroughproductions.org.uk/event/queer-bloomsbury-2/?ref=scenemag.co.uk) is set to transform **Charleston House and Gardens** into a vibrant showcase of LGBTQ+ creativity on **15 August**.

Delivered in partnership by[**Queer Heritage South**,](https://www.queerheritagesouth.co.uk/s/queer-heritage-south/page/home?ref=scenemag.co.uk) **Charleston** and [**Marlborough Productions**](https://marlboroughproductions.org.uk/event/queer-bloomsbury-2/?ref=scenemag.co.uk), the evening begins with ***The Moment***, a new commission featuring acclaimed writer and performer **Travis Alabanza**, bestselling author **Shon Faye**, and award-winning drag king and comedian **Jodie Mitchell**. The discussion will explore contemporary queer life, trans experiences, collective organising and visions for the future. According to organisers, the event asks what this moment means for queer and trans communities and what forms of solidarity still need to be built.

As the sun sets, the venue will be reimagined as a ***Queer Fayre***, bringing together an eclectic mix of performances, live art, radical talks and immersive experiences. Artists including **Symoné, Brian Lobel, Emma Frankland, Subira Joy, Samson Dittrich and Charlie Wood** will present work across the gardens, creating what organisers describe as a landscape of queer curiosity and creativity.

The celebrations continue into the night with a ***Midsummer Party*** led by East London queer scene favourite **Michelle Manetti**, whose two decades behind the decks have made them a respected DJ, producer and promoter.

One of the features is the dedicated **shuttle bus service from Brighton**, making it easier for local LGBTQ+ audiences to attend. Buses depart from **Old Steine Bus Stop F** at **4.30pm** and **8pm**, with return journeys at **9pm** and **12.15am**, with tickets available for **£3.50**.

Alongside Queer Bloomsbury, organisers are also spotlighting a diverse programme of queer-focused events, including a zine-making workshop with **Zoe Thompson**, **The Clare Project**'s **Pride Special Pizza** and **Paperwork** **session**, **Joe Black**'s cabaret spectacular at **Komedia**, and **Jo Bannon**'s disability-led performance work.

Queer Bloomsbury showcases the extraordinary breadth of LGBTQ+ culture, bringing together trans voices, artists, performers, writers and community organisers in a programme that celebrates the diversity, creativity and resilience of queer life.
