# Pride Community Foundation calls for volunteers to march — and speak — at this year’s Brighton Pride

[Pride Community Foundation](https://www.pridecommunityfoundation.org/?ref=scenemag.co.uk) (PCF) is gearing up to lead the Brighton & Hove Pride Parade on **Saturday 1 August 2026** for the second year, and is putting out a call for volunteers to march with them on the day.

This year’s Pride theme is *“The Power of Love,”* and PCF says it couldn’t come at a more apt moment. The organisation is framing its presence in the parade as a direct call for better LGBTQ+ representation in politics and public life, arguing that visibility on the streets is one route to changing how the community is treated by people in power.

“If we want to change the way politics treats us, we need to change the system from the inside,” PCF said of this year’s entry. 

Volunteers who sign up to march with PCF and carry a placard will also get free access to [Pride on the Park](https://prideonthepark.co.uk/?ref=scenemag.co.uk) as part of their thanks for taking part.

## A first for the Park: the Queer Soapbox Stage

Alongside the parade, PCF is launching something new this year: the **Queer Soapbox Stage** at Pride on the Park, a dedicated platform for LGBTQ+ speeches and political contributions. The stage is designed to give community members, campaigners and anyone with something to say a space to voice their opinions and make the case for change, in front of the Pride on the Park audience.

PCF is inviting people to put themselves forward to speak as well as to march, opening the stage up to anyone who wants to take part.

### How to sign up

Anyone wanting to march with PCF in the parade, or to put themselves forward for a slot on the Queer Soapbox Stage, needs to fill out PCF’s sign-up form. Successful applicants will then receive a confirmation email in the coming weeks ahead of Pride.
