# New Patron for Sussex charity

**Mike Weatherley, the Conservative MP** for Hove and Portslade, has accepted an invitation from *Autism Sussex* to become a Patron of the organisation.

The general philosophy of *Autism Sussex* is to provide a safe base for people with autistic spectrum conditions, where their special needs are recognised and from which they may take full advantage of community opportunities.

*Autism Sussex* aims to enable its service-users to play as full a part in their community as appropriate to each individual. Emphasis is placed on an enabling role to foster independence and self-determination.

**Mike said:**

> *“I was honoured to become a patron of Autism Sussex, a stellar charity which does fantastic work locally. I know that Autism Sussex provides a number of extremely valuable services and will, as a Member of Parliament, provide all the support that I can for the people who rely on the support that this charity. I look forward to working with Autism Sussex in the near future.”*
