**Madonna** delivered a surprise performance in **New York**’s **Times Square** on Thursday night, teaming up with dating app **Grindr** for a high-profile event that drew a large crowd and introduced new material from her forthcoming album.

The pop star took to the stage just 30 minutes after the show was announced within the Grindr app, performing three previously unheard tracks from *Confessions II*, due for release on **3 July** via **Warner Records**. She also revisited songs from her 2005 album *Confessions on a Dance Floor*.

Wearing a **Dolce & Gabbana** corset, Madonna headlined the open-air set in what organisers described as a reimagining of Times Square as a “global gaybourhood”. The performance was simultaneously live-streamed to users worldwide within the app, marking the first time Grindr has hosted a global broadcast of this kind.

In a statement, Madonna said the collaboration was rooted in her long-standing relationship with LGBTQ+ audiences. “The LGBTQ+ community has been with me from the beginning. We’ve inspired, challenged and stood by each other during both dark and joyful times,” she said. “Partnering with Grindr feels like a celebration of that connection - safety in numbers.”

Grindr chief executive **George Arison** said the event reflected the platform’s ambitions to expand beyond digital connections. “Madonna chose to bring *Confessions II* to her fans through Grindr, and tonight Times Square became the global gayborhood,” he said.

The performance featured multiple camera angles, live dancers and a branded bus installation, with organisers seeking to create an immersive experience both on the ground and within the app. A recording of the show is set to be made available on Grindr’s YouTube channel.

The partnership forms part of a broader promotional campaign for *Confessions II*, including exclusive editions of the album on vinyl and in-app content for users. Grindr’s chief marketing officer **Tristan Pineiro** said the collaboration highlighted the influence of LGBTQ+ culture on mainstream trends. “Gay culture has always been at the centre of the conversation,” he said.

The one-night event drew thousands to the heart of Manhattan and signalled Madonna’s continued focus on large-scale, community-led performances as she prepares to release her latest music.
