# Local MPs meet NHS England to discuss future of 3 local GP surgeries

## On Monday, February 29 Simon Kirby, MP for Brighton Kemptown and Peacehaven, Peter Kyle, MP for Hove & Portslade and Caroline Lucas, MP for Brighton Pavilion met with NHS England and Brighton & Hove Clinical Care Group (CCG) to discuss the future of 5 GP surgeries in Brighton and Hove and Peacehaven.

**The meeting was arranged** to discuss NHS England’s plans in the light of the Practice Group announcing they wish to end current arrangements to run the surgeries.

Three of the surgeries with uncertain futures are in Brighton Kemptown and Peacehaven: **The Practice** Whitehawk, **The Practice** Willow House and **Brighton Homeless Healthcare** at Morley Street in Brighton.

**Simon Kirby, said:** *“The most important thing is that disruption for patients is minimised. I have urged NHS England to extend the existing contracts until a sustainable solution for the three surgeries can be found.*

*“Although the list size for Willow House surgery in Bevendean is small at around 1900 patients, the community is relatively isolated and is poorly served by buses and so the impact of closure of this surgery needs to be considered.*

*“I will do what I can to help with this difficult situation and I hope that NHS England are able to find a solution that suits all patients.”*
