# LGBTQ+ charity launches Pride campaign to fund legal challenges across Europe

A UK-registered LGBTQ+ rights charity has launched a Pride fundraising campaign aimed at strengthening legal protections across Europe amid growing concern over equality laws.

**Lavender Common**, a strategic litigation charity based in England and Wales, is calling on supporters to donate £10 as part of its 2026 **Show Up This Pride** campaign.

The organisation works to support legal action challenging discriminatory laws and to build legal precedents designed to protect LGBTQ+ communities across the continent. It also provides legal expertise and coordinates work between organisations to advance equality through the courts. 

The campaign encourages both LGBTQ+ people and allies to make small yearly contributions, framing the donations as a collective effort to defend rights at a time when campaigners say those rights are increasingly under pressure.

Lavender Common said the initiative comes against a backdrop of mounting challenges for LGBTQ+ communities in Europe, including legislative and constitutional changes affecting equality protections in several countries.

Working with content creators across the continent, the charity is producing country-specific social media posts designed to boost participation and reach new audiences. Supporters are encouraged to “show up” by contributing to what organisers describe as a wider, pan-European movement focused on equality through legal action.

On Friday, the charity collaborated with **Ann Russell** ([Tiktoker ](https://www.tiktok.com/@annrussell03?lang=en&ref=scenemag.co.uk)and author) to launch the campaign, which has already attracted more than 300 supporters, with organisers aiming to reach at least 10,000 people through partnerships during Pride season.

Lavender Common said it was seeking to build long-term “litigation capacity” across Europe, using the courts as a tool for lasting social change.

**Mohamed Hussein Iman**, the charity’s managing director, said Pride should be about more than celebration. “Pride has always been about showing up for one another, but today that solidarity needs to extend beyond celebration,” he said.

“Across Europe we’re seeing LGBTQ+ rights challenged by various actors, and strategic litigation is one of the most powerful tools we have to respond.

“Every person who joins Show Up This Pride is helping ensure our vital work can continue and that communities facing discrimination know they are not standing alone.”

The campaign launches as the UK Government moves forward with plans to introduce a ban on conversion practices in England and Wales, which would make it a criminal offence to carry out abusive attempts to change a person’s sexual orientation or gender identity. 

Campaigners have described such measures as essential protections, as legal battles over LGBTQ+ rights continue to play out across Europe.
