## To celebrate LGBT History Month in February, The Towner Art Gallery in Eastbourne will present a special screening of *The Celluloid Closet*.

**Towner Art Gallery are teaming up** with Eastbourne Rainbow, a LGBT+ group for the 50+ Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender communities living in Eastbourne and the surrounding area, and Bourne Out, a social group for LGBT+ people living in Eastbourne.

**The screening will be introduced** by Dr Niall Richardson, from University of Sussex.

Academy-award winning filmmakers **Rob Epstein** and **Jeffrey Friedman** delve into the archive to present a comprehensive – and immensely entertaining – history of queer representations from a century of film history.

Based on **Vito Russo’s** seminal 1981 book of the same name, *The Celluloid Closet* is narrated by **Lily Tomlin**, and features interviews with a roster of stars including **Tony Curtis**, **Whoopi Goldberg**, **Tom Hanks**, **Shirley MacLaine**, **Gore Vidal** and **Armistead Maupin** (who also wrote the narration).
