# Legends Brighton raises more than £4,400 for LGBTQ+ and HIV charities during Pride season

Brighton LGBTQ+ venue **Legends** has announced it raised more than **£4,400** for charity during Pride season, thanking customers, staff, performers and supporters for their generosity.

The popular seafront venue revealed that a total of **£4,401.68** was raised through donations and fundraising activities throughout August and **Brighton & Hove Pride** celebrations.

The largest donation, **£2,635.54**, was raised for local HIV charity **The Sussex Beacon**, while **Lunch Positive**, which provides healthy meals and support for people living with HIV, received **£881.14**.

Legends also raised **£620** for **Trans Pride Brighton** and **£265** for **Brighton Bear Weekend**, bringing the total amount donated to community organisations and causes to more than £4,400.

In a statement, the venue thanked everyone who contributed to the fundraising effort. "Every donation, collection bucket, fundraiser and slightly tipsy bit of generosity adds up, and we genuinely couldn't do it without you," the venue said.

Legends said it was particularly proud to be able to continue supporting community causes at a time when LGBTQ+ venues are facing increasing pressures.

"At a time when LGBTQ+ venues and spaces are facing some very real challenges, we're incredibly proud that Legends can still be a place that doesn't just celebrate our community, but gives something back to it too," the statement added.

The venue concluded by thanking customers, performers, staff and supporters who helped make the fundraising possible.

"You came. You partied. You donated. You made a difference. That's what Pride is all about."

The fundraising success comes during a challenging period for Brighton's LGBTQ+ nightlife sector, following recent announcements that **R-Bar** and **Charles Street Tap** are set to close.
