# Last chance to apply for a small business grant

If you think you are you missing out on vital financial support for your small business during the Covid-19 pandemic, then two types of grant are still available from **Brighton & Hove City Council** (BHCC):

• A grant of £10,000 for all businesses in receipt of small business rate relief or rural rate relief. **[Check to see if you are eligible](https://www.gov.uk/guidance/check-if-youre-eligible-for-the-coronavirus-small-business-grant-fund?ref=scenemag.co.uk)**  
• A grant of £25,000 for retail, hospitality and leisure businesses with property with a rateable value of between £15,000 and £50,999\. **[Check to see if you are eligible](https://www.gov.uk/guidance/check-if-youre-eligible-for-the-coronavirus-retail-hospitality-and-leisure-grant-fund?ref=scenemag.co.uk)**

The grant is paid to the person who was responsible for paying business rates for the property on March 11.

Since the government introduced its small business grants scheme as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, BHCC has paid out more than £67m to nearly 5,000 businesses.

BHCC is still paying out small business grants and urge any businesses that have not yet been in touch to contact them before the scheme closes on **Friday, August 28**.

**These small business grants do not need to be paid back. They are available for all eligible businesses to help them keep afloat through the Covid-19 crisis.**

The government has also just announced a**[ grants fund for small and medium-sized businesses](https://www.coast2capital.org.uk/media-centre/news-articles/20-million-in-new-grants-to-boost-recovery-of-small-businesses.html?ref=scenemag.co.uk)** of £1,000 to £5,000 for new equipment, technology and specialist advice. The grants will be distributed through the **[Coast to Capital Growth Hub](https://www.c2cbusiness.org.uk/?ref=scenemag.co.uk)**.
